THE TARKINE:
SAVING THE LAST OF GONDWANA
The Tarkine is the planet's second largest remaining temperate rainforest and a massive carbon synch. It is located in the northwest of Tasmainia, Australia's island state. For the last 50 years conservationist have been waging a battle against successive governments to have it listed as a world heritage area, protecting it from the destructive practices of mining and logging. Even in this era of climite change the Tasmanian government refuses to give it a national parks status to enable world heritage listing.The struggle continues.
